My Cat No Longer Loves Me, Or Why Andrew is Super Jealous of Us

Yes, that is right, Andrew: we got a dog.

Her new name is Stirling. She is a rescue from a rat-infested house in Austin, TX with a 91-year-old man no longer able to care for her or himself. Friends of ours convinced us she would be perfect and delivered her to us last night. They were right: she is perfect.

She is 5 years old, house trained, and knows how to sit. We will work on sit and stay (not to mention, "leave it" when it comes to the cat). She is about 55 lbs, comes to our knees, and part Gorden Setter and I think Shetland Sheepdog (the small ones). She is lovely. We are in love.

Now, the cat isn't really thrilled. We are slowly introducing them and so far has only one swipe from Jackie to Stirling's nose. And Stirling took it. That is a good sign! Currently, Jackie is sleeping in the sun, so it is sorta business as usual.

Congratulations on your new pooch!Glad to hear that Stirling is getting along well with the cat, too. The next trick is getting her to cheer when the Wildcats play on TV.

Are you brushing her everyday? That's what the Gordon Setter link advised. She is pretty!

Ahhhhhh so cute! You are correct, I am super jealous. Like everything else in Texas, were the rats BIG? If so, watch out cat!!
