We have this one bit of the master suite to complete: the shoe closet. After months of waiting for our contractor to come back and finish it, we gave up and decided to do it ourselves. We had leftover wood from the redo of the attic. Will measured three shelves, borrowing a circular saw after his arm about fell off when he attempted to handsaw them. Here he is sanding them down.
I, in the meantime, stained the three shelves. Shaker Pine.
Will painted the floor white.
We then started to hang the shelves. Will screwed bits of wood into the wall and the shelves rest on them. He started with the bottom one, nailing it down for stability....
....only to discover it was hard to screw in the rest of the bits of wood for the upper shelves. Ahem.
He persevered and after about a half a day, we had shelves! Now, we just need to get all of my shoes in there, and we are set. I mean, our shoes...
