Jackie Bear, my baby kitty, died today. She was 13. I had her since my second year here in DC.
I will miss her and her crankiness, but also her soft purring and "making biscuits" on me as she got comfortable for a nap.
I named my blog after you, baby kitty. I will remember you always. I hope you find lots of cat nip and birds to chase now.

Oh, Miriam I am so sorry to hear about Jackie's passing. I really liked her. She was so young, was she sick?
Genevieve and I were instantly smitten by Jackie, her idiosyncrasies only adding to her appeal. As fellow cat owners our hearts go out to you, as these creatures, all pets really, have a way of completely winning you over.
When I think of her, I picture her draped around your shoulders, where she liked to ride when she was a sweet little kitten.
So sorry to hear the news about Miss Jackie and I am bummed I never had the chance to meet her!
Dear Miriam,
As human Mom to one of Jackie's littermates, the inscrutable Mr P, I share your sorrow. Cats make life so much more interesting.
Love,
Jania
