The Last of the Rhubarb

With Cousin Diane here and complaining that when she was younger, her mother would "ruin" strawberry pie by adding rhubarb, Will and I were determined to have one last rhubarb crumble to prove her wrong.  We were able to harvest about 10 stalks-- enough for a small crumble.  We also had to share the dessert with a French couple currently staying with us who had never had it.  ever.  And see, that is just as wrong!    After eating the rhubarb crumble, Diane agreed that after years of thinking that the pie was ruined by the addition of the celery-like vegetable, she indeed like rhubarb.  Both raw and as a dessert.  That sad thing now, is that we are out of rhubarb for the year and have to wait (impatiently I might add) for the plants to produce again...
