Arrival: Copenhagen

We made it to Copenahgen, Denmark! As we flew in from the west, Will and I were amazed to see that it was nearly flat!  We hardly saw any hills or mountains at all.  We did see numerous windmills-- more than Holland! We were also surprised to see how much of the signs were in English. And I am actually remembering my 9 years of German-- it is helpful in translating some of the menus.  The weather is bright and sunny, with a bit of a chill in the air.

Our hotel is.... interesting.  It is in the suburb of Orestad (O with a slash through it) and called the Cabinn Metro Copenhagen.  It is designed on the idea of a ship, so the rooms are really tiny.  And I do mean small.  When we are in the bathroom, we use the sink tap to turn on the shower.  We can literally be on the toilet while we shower.  So far, we have lost several rolls of toilet paper because water just gets everywhere.  The shower curtain is a bit useless.  Will says we are in prison.  I think that some cells are actually bigger...

It is also the kind of hotel where you have to slide your key into a docking station in order to power the lights.  Pull out the key, the lights go out.  Very clever.   We are very close to a shopping center and spent some wandering around looking at all the shops.  We were converting the prices in our heads...  everything here is ridiculously expensive.  Worse than Australia.  100 Kroner is nearly $20 and most things are 150+, including the food.  It will be a triumph if we get a meal for $60.
