BBC's Spaghetti Harvest, 1957

This is the best April Fool's joke ever: The Great Spaghetti Harvest of 1957

In 1957, this aired on the BBC's evening news. It was narrated by distinguished broadcaster Richard Dimbleby, regarded as one of the greatest figures in British broadcasting. The video featured a family from Ticino, Switzerland carrying out their annual spaghetti harvest. Apparently, it caused quite a stir as many viewers really thought that this is was how spaghetti was made, since, in 1957, spaghetti was not widely-known and considered an exotic dish in the UK.

Some think that this is the first time TV was used in an April Fool's joke.

Regardless, it is hilarious and I think classic.

Happy April Fool's!
