Snoverkill

It just been confirmed: this is the snowiest winter on record for the area. Mother Nature has really out done herself. We are competing with the February Blizzard of 1899, during which it snowed for 51 hours. We have in our back yard about 35 inches of snow. We are still expecting more snow in bands, but right now we are dealing with the blizzard like winds and the very very very cold.

We have now shoveled the sidewalks during these storms for the 14th time. We are expecting to have to do it at least 2 more times. We have spectacular icicles on the dormer and the roof seems to be held up just fine. It is just amazing. I heard from a friend who was silly enough to come into town. Where is he staying, he has now lost heat (he got a space heater finally) and there was a water main break down the road from him (which is why the heat went, though he seems to still have water). Apparently the water was gushing out into a frozen arc. I tried to tell him to not come into town, but he wouldn't listen... he'll know better next time.

Snoverkill! Great word! You should submit it to one of the TV stations. It may make it to the dictionary eventually, just like ginormous did.
