Another summer project (besides all the house guests) was removing all the access wires on the outside of the house. Decades of wires: cable tv, DirecTV, phone, more cable tv wires attached to the brick. They encircled the house, climbed up the walls, and draped over gutters.
Years ago, we switched from cable to satellite tv and finally, we got rid of the satellite tv (so long as we the interwebs, we can watch anything). We no longer have a land line and since we use a VoIP number. Yet, the vestiges of these utilities clung onto our house, making it at the very least messy. So, we removed them-- all but the alarm wire and the internet cable. We figured we removed about 1/2 mile of cabling.
After it was all off, we felt that the house was lighter, being not bogged down by all the plastic-coated wires.
