So, we have our next house project. We were hoping to take a bit of break, having had a busy year with the kitchen (back in January), repainting the basement (over the summer), and just general maintenance from all the house guests (constantly coming).
Unfortunately, the middle bathroom had other plans for us. Shortly after our last guests left (my parents), the tiles in the shower decided that they had had enough. They gave up their position on the wall and decided that they liked being free.
The wall had been bulging for years, but the bulge hadn't grown any. We realized that the whole set-up needed to be redone, from a new sink and toilet, to flipping the door and even expanding the floor plan of the entire space. But that was going to be sometime in the future, we had just bought a new car, after all.
Alas, it appears that it was not to be. When the tiles fell off, the entire wall crumbled behind them. It left the lathes exposed and a crumbly cement mess in the bottom of the tub. Currently, the shower is out of commission-- I guess you could still take a bath. So far, we don't have anyone coming so that we could be okay with just a bathtub; however, you know us. We will have someone here staying for more than a week soon enough.
So, after the new year, we will be looking at bathroom remodeling..... sigh. Maybe Santa will be us a new bathroom for Christmas....
